Campoff Privacy Policy

Effective 31 October 2026

Campoff helps you put your phone away and counts the time you spend off screen, together with friends and camps. This document explains in plain language what data we keep about you, why, who can see it, and how you can delete it.

In short:

  • We show no ads and use no analytics or ad tracking tools (no Google Analytics, Meta Pixel or similar).
  • We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.
  • Other Campoff users see your name and your time/points. Your detailed stats are visible only to you.
  • You can delete your account and all your data yourself: Settings → Delete account.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is:
SIA Campoff
Reg. no. 40203782686
"Bajāri", Vīpe parish, Jēkabpils municipality, Latvia
Email: kristaps@campoff.app

For any question about your data or your rights, write to kristaps@campoff.app. We have not appointed a data protection officer, because the law does not require one for a service of this size.

2. What data we keep

2.1. Account

  • Your email address. You sign in with it, and we send your sign-in code to it.
  • A name you choose. It must be unique, and other users can see it (see section 4). You can use a nickname.
  • When you created your account, and when and which version of the Terms you agreed to.

2.2. Sign-in

  • A six-digit code. Valid for 10 minutes and deleted after use. We count wrong attempts so codes cannot be guessed.
  • A sign-in key (token). Stored in your browser (localStorage) and on our server, so you do not have to sign in every time. There are no passwords.

2.3. Time off screen

This is what Campoff does. For each time you press Start, we keep:

  • when it started and ended, how long it lasted, and why it ended (you stopped it, left the app, reached the limit, and so on);
  • how much time you spent outside the app;
  • regular "still here" signals from your device while time is being counted.

From this we calculate your hours, streaks, stats, goals and league points.

2.4. Fair play signals

So nobody can get time or points by cheating, during a session we record:

  • whether the app was in split screen or lost focus;
  • window and screen size;
  • your device platform and whether the app was opened as an installed app.

This includes nothing about what happens in other apps or on your screen.

2.5. Device

  • Your device type: iPhone, iPad or other. We work it out from the browser but do not store your full browser identifier (user agent). Start only works on a phone.
  • Whether and when you installed Campoff on your home screen.
  • If you use Quick start (the Action Button shortcut), a personal key for your link. You can reset it at any time.

2.6. Camps, friends and leagues

  • Camps you joined or created: name, join code, dates, camp goal, when you joined.
  • People you chose as friends.
  • Your league, league room, weekly points and results, flames and badges earned, and your first steps checklist progress.
  • Personal goals and the reward text you write yourself.

2.7. Notifications

If you turn on notifications, we keep:

  • your browser's push subscription: the address your browser company uses to deliver notifications, plus encryption keys;
  • your notification settings (for example your reminder time).

2.8. Wallet and coupons

When you get a coupon for your hours, we record:

  • which coupon and code you received;
  • for how many hours and when;
  • whether it was refunded.

The coupon company receives nothing about you. You show the code yourself.

2.9. Businesses

  • If a company applies for a wallet partnership, we keep the company name, contact email and phone number.
  • If a company creates camps for its people in the business portal, we keep:
    • the email of the organiser (the person who signs in to the portal);
    • the camps they created and their settings;
    • when, and which organiser, agreed to the Business Terms.
  • If a company orders a paid camp, we also keep invoice details:
    • company name, registration number, VAT number (if any) and legal address;
    • the email for the invoice;
    • the chosen package, the price, and when it was ordered and when payment was confirmed.

These are mostly company data, not personal data. But they can be personal data, for example when the invoice email contains a person's name, or when the customer is a sole trader.

2.10. Technical logs

Our hosting provider automatically logs the IP address, time and requested address. This is needed to run the service and keep it secure. We also use the IP address briefly (in server memory only) to limit too many sign-in attempts.

What we do not collect:

  • your location;
  • your contacts;
  • your photos;
  • health data;
  • what you do in other apps;
  • payment details.

3. Why we use it and on what legal basis

4. Who sees your data

Campoff is a social app, so some of your data is visible to others:

  • All Campoff users can see your name, your league and this week's points in the overall list ("All campers"), and how many people are off screen right now (a count only).
  • People in your league room see your name, points and place in the room.
  • People in your camp see your name, your hours in that camp, your streak and whether you are off screen right now.
  • Anyone who adds you as a friend sees your name, all your counted hours (today, this week, this month and in total, not only in a shared camp), your streak and whether you are off screen right now. If they have friend notifications on, they may get a notification when you start.
    • Anyone in a camp with you can add you. You join a league automatically when you first collect time, and from then on any Campoff user can add you.
    • They do not need your approval, and we do not tell you who added you. At the moment the only way to prevent this is to delete your account.
    • They do not see your email or your individual sessions.
  • A company that created a camp (for example your employer) sees, in the business portal, the names and hours of that camp's members: per day, week, month and in total.
    • In the business portal, the company does not see your email, your session details or what you do in other camps.
    • Someone from the company who is a member of that camp sees in the app what other camp members see and, if they add you as a friend, what friends see.
    • We process a business camp's data on the company's behalf under a data processing agreement. The company is responsible for how it uses this data.
    • Our Business Terms forbid the company to force people to join, or to use camp results to judge your work, set pay or make disciplinary decisions.
    • If you have questions about how the company uses this data, ask the company. You can also write to us.
    • If you do not want the company to see this, you can leave the camp.
  • Only you see your detailed stats, session history, personal goals and wallet.
  • The Campoff administrator (us) can see data when needed for support, security or fair play checks. Admin actions are logged.

Service providers that process data on our behalf. They may use it only to provide their service to us:

  • Render Services, Inc. (USA): server, database and technical logs. Server location: Frankfurt, Germany (EU).
  • Resend, Inc. (USA): sending sign-in codes and news emails.
  • Your browser's push service (Apple, Google, Mozilla or Microsoft, depending on your browser): delivers notifications to your device. Notification content is encrypted.

We do not share data with anyone else unless the law requires it (for example a court or the police with a lawful request).

5. Transfers outside the EU

Some of our service providers are US companies, so data may be processed in the USA. In those cases we rely on the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework where the company is certified, or on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses that are part of our data processing agreements with them. Ask us if you want to know more.

6. How long we keep data

  • Your account and everything linked to it (sessions, camps, friends, leagues, wallet, push subscription): as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, the data is deleted from the live database immediately. Camps you created are deleted with you. The exception is a company's paid camp that you organise: while it has not ended, the account cannot be deleted. Write to us first so we can hand the camp over to another person at the company.
  • Backups: no longer than 30 days. After that they are deleted.
  • Sign-in code: 10 minutes or until used.
  • Technical logs: as long as our hosting provider keeps them. Usually a few days, and no longer than 30 days.
  • News mailing list (who already got an email, so nobody gets it twice): no longer than 30 days after sending.
  • Coupon codes you received: after account deletion, the code stays in our coupon records as "given out", but no longer linked to you.
  • Business applications: while we work together, and no longer than 12 months after the last contact if we did not start working together.
  • Invoices and invoice details: as long as accounting law requires (currently 5 years). They stay even if the organiser deletes their account.
  • Business camp data: as long as the company wants to see it. When the company asks in writing, we delete the camp membership within 30 days. Your own time stays in your account.
  • If the law requires us to keep data longer, or the data is needed to resolve a dispute, we keep it for as long as necessary.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • know what data we keep about you and get a copy (GDPR Art. 15);
  • correct inaccurate data. You can change your name yourself in Settings (Art. 16);
  • delete your data. You can do it yourself: Settings → Delete account (Art. 17);
  • restrict processing (Art. 18);
  • get your data in a machine-readable format (JSON) and take it elsewhere (Art. 20);
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests, including news emails (Art. 21). You can unsubscribe from news with the link in any email or in Settings;
  • withdraw consent at any time, for example by turning off notifications. This does not affect what happened before.

To use these rights, write to kristaps@campoff.app from the email linked to your account. We reply within one month, free of charge.

If you believe we process your data unlawfully, you can complain to the Latvian Data State Inspectorate (Datu valsts inspekcija, Elijas iela 17, Rīga, LV-1050, www.dvi.gov.lv) or to the supervisory authority in your EU country. We would appreciate it if you write to us first so we can try to fix it.

8. Automated decisions

Some decisions in Campoff are made automatically:

  • placing you in a league room;
  • moving you up or down a league;
  • stopping a session when split screen or loss of focus is detected.

They do not have legal or similarly significant effects on your life (within the meaning of GDPR Art. 22). If you think a session or your points were calculated wrongly, write to us and a person will check it. We do not profile you for advertising.

9. Children

You must be at least 13 years old to use Campoff. If you are younger, please do not use Campoff. If we learn that an account was created by a child under 13, we will delete it. Parents can write to kristaps@campoff.app.

10. Cookies and device storage

Campoff uses no advertising or analytics cookies. In your browser we store only what the app needs to work:

  • your sign-in key;
  • a few settings;
  • app files for offline use (service worker cache).

These do not need consent, because they are strictly necessary for a service you chose to use. Fonts and all files load from our own server.

11. Security

  • All connections are encrypted (HTTPS).
  • There are no passwords, and sign-in codes are short-lived with a limited number of attempts.
  • Only the Campoff administrator has access to the database.
  • If there is a data breach that puts your rights at risk, we will tell you and the Data State Inspectorate as the law requires.

12. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top. We will announce important changes in the app and, if needed, ask you to agree again.
